What To Expect At A Annual Scholarship Reception?

I will be going to an annual scholarship reception at my school tomorrow; what should I expect to happen at the reception?
And is it possible to get several scholarship at the event? Will it go for the next semester or for this current semester?

Usually scholarship receptions are so that the recipient of the scholarship could meet with the donor of that scholarship.
